OUR FOXIE FAMILY

Our Past & PresentFox TerriersMEET The Pack

        Daisy

1991 -1999

Daisy was my first smooth fox terrier and a beautifully natured dog who loved an adventure. She would take herself on her own walks despite my dad throwing a tennis ball every afternoon for her.

Daisy was famous in our neighbourhood and was known to turn up on the local golf course, and various resorts and neighbour’s houses. The dog catcher couldn’t catch her, and she would often beat him home before he got to our house as if she was there all along sporting a ‘who me?’ expression!

The fence was totally secured to stop her escapees eventually when we wore out the dog catcher’s patience. She sadly passed away at 9 years of age from becoming sick from eating a rotten coconut from one of her beach adventures.

Rocket

                Rocket
Phoxten Inklination

      1995 - 2004

Sire: CH. Sufredon Prophet (Imp.U.K)

Dam: CH. Satansbest Loyola (Q)

Rocket was from a local breeder, Edna Fisher who would also show smooths in the Cairns region. Rocket was intended to be exported to Japan, he was a stunning boy and his sire had been imported from England. Rocket's Sire was a third generation from ENG.  CH. Boreham Blue Black (U.K) .

Edna was re-homing him because he only had developed one testicle and his bite was not correct for showing.  He instantly bonded with Daisy and adored her.

His bite ended up correcting and his second testicle dropped! Poor Edna!  She was however happy that he had a found a great home.

Rocket strutted around and was a stunning dog but his shortfalls were his obsession with pythons! He would stand at the foot of a tree or a log and bark incessantly until we removed him. He did end up with a python’s mouth on his leg which measured 7cm in diameter. When Daisy passed away he became depressed and so we went to visit Edna again…..

         Moonglow
       Beaukita Moon Glow
          1999 - 2012

Sire: AUST. CH. ECIRP TALISMAN

Dam: AUST. CH. RAMA RAINBOW REGAINED

Moonglow was destined for the show world however she wouldn’t perform in the ring! So, Edna was rehoming her and luckily for us she joined our family. Rocket had once again found a mate and was back to snuggles and adventures with a new mate.

Moving back up from Melbourne, I returned home in time for Moonglow. Moonglow was nicknamed ‘Princess Snake Slayer’ for her incredible hunting skills.

In action after stalking her prey, sometimes slow to the ground like a cat, she would pounce, grab, and flick the snake or rat into the air with one motion and the prey would land dead on the ground.

Like a cat, we felt that she had 9 lives. She was hit by a car twice, bitten by a snake, poisoned by a toad, and bitten by a tick.

In her elderly years she had this quirk where she would collect the dead mice that the cat had brought in and sit with them in her basket, not chew or eat, just sit. It strangely seemed to bring her comfort.

She once produced milk for a ginger kitten which had thought she was its mother and suckled. They developed a beautiful bond in the coming years. Moonglow lived until she was a grand old lady of 13.

          Bongo  2008 -2014

Edna had retired as a breeder by this time and Bongo joined us. He was purchased from a farmer, had no papers but was ‘purebred’. Bongo was bonkers! He adored Moonglow and she mothered him and taught him her hunting skills and he too became a skilled hunter. His problem was that he had that terrier inflated mindset and would take on bigger animals.

The day he was seconds away from being bitten by a death adder was heart stopping and I had to try to grab hold of him to whisk him away as it was ready to strike. Grabbing the back of the lead, heart thumping through my chest, I managed to yank him backwards at the speed of lightening before it could strike.

Bongo loved a party and was very social. When Ben and I got married on my mum’s property in North Qld he had been in the house during the ceremony and when he was finally let out, he raced around looking for us. Once he got the scent, saw me and ran full pelt leaping through the air and into my arms, covering me in licks. He kept bouncing up down as foxies do! These are some of my favourite wedding photos!

He did cause chaos the next day when all the hired wedding glasses had been stacked neatly on a table and who should come crashing through them was Bongo playing a chasey game with our other dogs. He spent a lot of time in our retail shop in Cairns getting cuddles from customers and out the back chasing rats. When moving to a bigger property on the tablelands in 2013, he went out into a paddock one day and didn’t come home.

Wish - Dukemont ‘Wish Upon A Star’                     2017 - 2018

We had our beautiful easy going English Mastiff ‘Bahloo’ but we missed having a smooth around to liven up the place.

Wish was papered and came from a local ANKC breeder who had some well bred dogs from really nice lines. Thank you Penny, we adored Wish.

She was a tan and white and full of pizazz puppy!

Wish was full of adventure and loved hanging out at our clothing stall in the village or exploring on the beach and taking her best mate, a black labrador for a walk on her lead.

Wish developed a habit of chasing the wheels on our kid’s bikes and pull toys. Unfortunately, she progressed into our cars on our property road and was run over. We were devastated and she was only 8 months old.

                                     The crossover...

With my passion for the breed getting stronger, I decided that I wanted to move into breeding to help to preserve this breed as there really were not many around and when they were spotted were often mistaken for other terriers. The Jack Russell and the unofficial breed, the miniature fox terrier which caused the most common confusion.

Shine- Guntye ‘On Your Tippy Toes’
              2018  - Present

IMG_2330_edited_edited.jpg

We were excited to have Shine join our family because we had wanted to get another puppy from Wish’s parents. Shine is Wish’s half-sister and a tan and white except with split face. She has won awards in the show ring although didn’t get her title due to not having enough showing opportunities and my big break from showing. Shine is a real homebody, and you will find her snuggled up on a couch or at the end of someone’s bed. Swish has produced some lovely puppies, one of which we kept, Swish.

Jasper –Riverlands ‘Welcome To The Jungle’
                         2018 - Current

Jasper is a striking Black and White smooth with a bolt of lightening sprint that sparks the other foxies into a riot outburst and they will go tearing up and down hills chasing each other. He did well in the show ring but didn’t get to finish his points to his championship due to the break in showing.

             Swish

Aliyrahills Wish In Paradise City

           2021 - Current

Swish was named after her aunty as a tribute after we lost Wish so young, and we missed her dearly.

Swish is the daredevil that Jasper is along with his affectionate nature combined with the nurturing side of Shine. Although she doesn’t tend to chase her own tail like Shine does!

Strong in body, good headset and a lovely natured temperament, we are happy with the way that she has developed.

Swish was not trained as a show dog, however she has produced an outstanding litter of puppies with the collaboration with Clayco House Of Terriers and the use of their multi award winning sire Patch CH. Clayco Bone Cracker.

Patch is now touring Europe in 2023 and achieving many awards in the show ring!

                Electra
Aliyrahills Electric Swing
              2023

                 Jazz
Aliyrahills Jazz Fusion
              2023

Continuing with the theme of music genres, Electra is named after the bouncy and quirky Electro Swing.

Dam – Swish Aliyrahills ‘Wish In Paradise City’

Sire – Patch Clayco -CH ‘Bone Cracker’

Electra is tan and white and from Swish’s first litter and is a dynamic ball of energy with a lightning strike on her face to match! I watched her from birth and felt that she had something special to represent in the breed. She is a gorgeous and affectionate girl and is already achieving in the show ring.

Jazz is named after the music genre ‘Jazz Fusion’

Jazz is black and white and from the same litter as Electra.

She is a fun and bouncy girl and the first to instigate the zoomies with the other foxies! Jazz is always the first to find trouble! A toad, dislocating her hip in a tangle with our mastiff and trying to coerce small animals from rather large, ominous logs.

She is competing with her sister at the shows and together they are such a contrast in colour.
